Dear Students,

My apologies for the confusion over the last couple of weeks. Hopefully this email will clarify the status of Dowling College and the pathways available to you to continue, and in some instances, complete your education.

Since Dowling College is open, the option of Molloy College, who generously offered be our partner and to teach-out our students, is technically not available. There is no teach-out as long as Dowling remains open.

However, Molloy College, or any other college of your choice, which provides academic opportunities that meet the credit requirements and the academic standards of Dowling College, will be accepted by Dowling College.

Essentially you will be transferring credits back to Dowling College that were taken at another school. The following represents the options that are available to you:

Students eligible to complete their degrees by August 31st must complete the graduation application available on the website: http://www.dowling.edu/students/guide-to-graduation/

Summer transfer credits from four-year institutions will be accepted to satisfy the completion of August 2016 degrees. Students must provide an official transcript showing a grade of C or better.

To insure the acceptance of transfer credits, students must submit the following form, as soon as possible, for each class to be transferred, accompanied by a copy of the other school's course description. http://www.dowling.edu/…/earn-credits-at-another-institutio… (The form may be emailed to: audit@dowling.edu or faxed to: 631-244-1055)

We are confident that this process should enable students who are within 12 credits of graduation to complete the requirements and graduate with a Dowling College degree conferred in August 2016. While this process is put in place to accommodate the needs of our students, our long-term goal remains the same, which is to complete an agreement with our affiliation partner, Global University Systems, which will allow Dowling to remain open.

Again, my apologies for the events that have transpired over the last couple of weeks. The Board of Trustees, administration, and staff, have been working around the clock to achieve a goal that I think we share, which is Dowling must remain Dowling!
