ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF DOWLING COLLEGE William K. Vanderbilt Idle Hour Estate Mansion Room 105 150 Idle Hour Boulevard Oakdale, New York 11769
June 1, 2016
Dear Dr. Inserra:
This letter follows up on my e-mail yesterday, May 31, 2016, regarding the announcement of the closure of Dowling College, effective June 3, 2016 about which we learned from media reports. I was disappointed that despite our repeated communications about the future of the College, the College administration made this decision without consulting or even informing the Alumni Association.
While the administration has been considering closure, the Alumni Association of Dowling College has been exploring means of keeping the College open. We believe the first step to saving Dowling College is reinvigorating the College Board with new ideas and a commitment to ensuring the future of the College. To this end, we have attached the names of individuals, who have agreed to join the Board immediately.

As you will see, these individuals come from a wide range of impressive backgrounds and include a number of persons who have expertise in College turnarounds. There are other persons we are to recommend shortly. We are convinced that an infusion of new ideas will be the first step to securing the future of the College.
In addition, the Alumni Association is in the process of retaining counsel experienced with higher education matters. We are hopeful that they will be able to assist the College as we seek to attain what we presume is our mutual goal of saving Dowling College.
I would greatly appreciate it if you would respond before close of business today, letting me know of your agreement to the additions to the Board that we have requested. We look forward to hearing from you shortly.
Yours very truly, Frank M. Corso, Jr. President Alumni Association of Dowling College
