I'd like to offer a small response to the [Aleksandra Bator's] letter in regards to students' disdain and shame in the Dowling name. Many good people put a lot into "Dowling" itself and for a long time it was a premiere institution. I went there as a student and had a great time of it. Robert Dowling was a philanthropist and deserves better than this legacy. The people who betrayed the community have specific names, names that should be brought to the forefront so that they can't hide behind, and consequently ruin, the name of Dowling. So please don't be ashamed that you attended Dowling, and contributed to a rich history that you, I, and many others should be proud of. Direct and refine the anger at the very few that ran the place into the ground -- The people who sat through months, years of meetings and didn't take any action to save the institution. The people through the years, many long gone mind you, who squandered money each year instead of making capital improvements and regularly maintaining the campus. These people have names if you are angry enough to find them.
